This page documents how we produce content, where our information comes from, what we do not do, and how we handle the inherent tension between editorial independence and affiliate revenue.

Where we sit

PowerStationTips is founded and edited by Steve Wang, a former Senior Product Expert at Alibaba. Steve is based in Shanghai, in China's Yangtze River Delta, and follows Chinese-language sources, retail channels, warranty policies, and supplier-side information from China's portable power industry. He also makes periodic trips to Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area. We are not in the US, UK, AU, or CA. When local context for those markets matters, such as warranty service paths, US-only certifications, or retailer-specific policies, we cite the source rather than infer from personal experience we do not have.

Sources we use

1. Manufacturer service documentation in both Chinese and English: error code tables, service manuals, firmware release notes, official troubleshooting guides, product manuals, and warranty terms. Chinese and English versions sometimes differ in ways that matter; we flag that when relevant.
2. Regulatory and certification filings: FCC, UL 9540, UL 2743, DOE efficiency disclosures, CCC, MIIT approvals, and other public filings when relevant.
3. English-language owner reports: Reddit, brand forums, DIY Solar Power Forum, support communities, and retailer reviews.
4. Chinese-language owner reports: Zhihu, brand-official Chinese support communities, retail platform reviews such as Tmall and JD, and DIY storage forums. Chinese owner reports often surface engineering details and failure modes weeks or months before English-language ones.
5. Independent lab reviews published by outlets with their own testing infrastructure. We cite their specific tests rather than restating their conclusions.

What we do not do

• We do not run a hands-on lab. We do not publish "we measured X watts on a clamp meter" claims unless we actually ran and documented that measurement. When we purchase or personally handle a product, we say so clearly in the article. Where real-world performance numbers appear on this site, they are attributed to a specific source: manufacturer documentation, an independent lab review, our own documented product handling, or an aggregated pattern from owner reports.
• Copy or paraphrase from manufacturer marketing copy.
• Republish content from competing review sites.
• Publish AI-generated text without editorial review and verification.
• Accept payment in exchange for positive reviews or ranking.
• Allow brands to preview or approve content before publication.

Fact checking

Every claim involving a specification (capacity, output, voltage, cycle life, surge rating, cycle count) is verified against the manufacturer's current documentation at publication time. We cite the source.

Claims about real-world performance are sourced to independent lab reviews where available, our own documented product handling where we have done it, or otherwise attributed to aggregated owner reports with a directional rather than over-precise reading.

Our pre-publication checklist for every article:

1. All spec claims match the manufacturer's current official documentation (not cached or third-party summaries).
2. Chinese and English documentation are compared where both exist; discrepancies are flagged.
3. Error codes, firmware-dependent behavior, and warranty terms are verified against the latest brand-published information.
4. Any hands-on claims are backed by documented measurements or clearly attributed to the source.
5. Product availability, pricing, and affiliate link status are confirmed before publishing.

Updates and corrections

Every article displays a "Last updated" date. We review content on a rolling basis when:

• A new firmware release changes documented behavior.
• A successor product is released that may shift our recommendation.
• A reader reports a factual error we can verify.

Corrections are made inline (with a "Correction:" note for material changes) and the updated date reflects the most recent substantive revision.

Conflict of interest

PowerStationTips earns affiliate commissions from some retailer and manufacturer links. We disclose this on every monetized article (see our affiliate disclosure) and our product recommendations are made independently of commission rates.

We do not own equity in, receive consulting income from, or accept free product from any brand we cover.

AI-assisted content policy

We may use AI tools as part of our research and drafting workflow — for example, to summarize large volumes of owner reports, translate Chinese-language source material, or generate initial drafts. However, every piece of content published on this site is reviewed and verified by a human editor. AI-generated text is never published without editorial review, and no technical claim is published solely because an AI tool produced it.

Specifically: all specification claims, error codes, compatibility information, and safety-related content are verified against primary sources (manufacturer documentation, regulatory filings, or documented hands-on testing) before publication.
